The Game Awards es uno de los eventos de videojuegos más esperados del año ya que son de los premios más importantes de la industria y además premian al mejor juego del año. Esta edición será online debido a la pandemia y ya presentó la lista de los nominados a todas sus categorías.

El premio más importante del evento es el Juego del Año o GOTY, dónde en esta edición disputarán a The Last of Us: Part II; DOOM Eternal; Final Fantasy VII: Remake; Animal Crossing: New Horizons; Ghost of Tsushima y Hades. Con 3 exclusivos de PlayStation, con Doom dando la cara por Microsoft y Nintendo con su poderoso Animal Crossing, aunque la sorpresa la dio Hades.

Los favoritos que más nominaciones en general fueron The Last of Us II. DOOM Eternal y Final Fantasy VII: Remake. Aunque siempre pueden haber sorpresas.
