El GOTY 2023, que había sido una disputa en todos los premios entre God of War Ragnarok y Elden Ring, contra todo pronóstico se lo llevo Vampire Survivors. El segundo ganador de la jornada fue la historia protagonizada por Kratos que se llevo 6 estatuillas, y Elden Ring solo se quedo con dos.
Vampire Survivors es un videojuego indie desarrollado por Poncle, lanzado en diciembre de 2021. Este título pertenece al género de supervivencia y acción en vista cenital, con elementos de "roguelike" y "bullet hell". El objetivo principal del juego es sobrevivir el mayor tiempo posible a oleadas de enemigos, principalmente vampiros y criaturas sobrenaturales, mientras mejoras tu personaje y desbloqueas habilidades y objetos. El juego cuenta con un estilo visual pixel art y una jugabilidad adictiva que desafía a los jugadores a superar sus propios récords. Vampire Survivors ha sido elogiado por su accesibilidad, ya que ofrece una experiencia de juego intensa y gratificante por un precio muy bajo, generalmente menos de 4 dólares.
